Daily Bread - Dec 31st
Thank you Lord for a wonderful year!
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
and this life was the light of the human race;
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5)

Daily Bread - Dec 28th
The Fifth Commandment.
He who honors his father atones for sins;
he stores up riches who reveres his mother.
He who honors his father is gladdened by children, and when he prays he is heard.
He who reveres his father will live a long life; he obeys the LORD who brings comfort to his mother. (Sirach 3:3-6)

'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you." (Deuteronomy 5:16)

We know... for we have touched him!

What was from the beginning,
what we have heard,
what we have seen with our eyes,
what we looked upon
and touched with our hands
concerns the Word of life
for the life was made visible;
we have seen it and testify to it
and proclaim to you the eternal life
that was with the Father and was made visible to us
what we have seen and heard
we proclaim now to you,
so that you too may have fellowship with us;
for our fellowship is with the Father
and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
We are writing this so that our joy may be complete. (1 John 1:1-4)
St. John the Apostle - Pray for us that we may be filled with Christ's love!

For Christ Alone!

But he, filled with the Holy Spirit,
looked up intently to heaven
and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
and he said,
“Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man
standing at the right hand of God.”
But they cried out in a loud voice, covered their ears,
and rushed upon him together.
They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him.
The witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.
As they were stoning Stephen, he called out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
Then he fell to his knees and cried out in a loud voice,
"Lord, do not hold this sin against them";
and when he said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:55-60)

Daily Bread - Dec 22nd - FAITHFULNESS
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - Faithfulness.
"If we are not faithful, he remains faithful, because he cannot be false to himself." (2 Timothy 2:13)
faith⋅ful [feyth-fuhl]
1. strict or thorough in the performance of duty: a faithful worker.
2. true to one's word, promises, vows, etc.
3. steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant: faithful friends.
4. reliable, trusted, or believed.
Daily Bread - Dec 21st - GOODNESS
Daily Bread - Dec 20th - KINDNESS
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - Kindness.
"He did this through Christ Jesus out of his generosity to us in order to show his extremely rich kindness in the world to come." (Ephesians 2:7)

Kindness does not necessarily mean nice. One can be kind and not nice. Nice is defined as being agreeable. In contrast, kindness is acting for the good of people regardless of what they do. Kindness is goodness in action, sweetness of disposition, gentleness in dealing with others, benevolence, kindness, affability.
The word describes the ability to act for the welfare of those taxing your patience. The Holy Spirit removes abrasive qualities from the character of one under His control.
Daily Bread - Dec 19th - PATIENCE
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - Patience.
"Brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord comes again. See how farmers wait for their precious crops to grow. They wait patiently for fall and spring rains." (James 5:7)

Patience means lenience, forbearance, fortitude, patient endurance, longsuffering, constancy, perseverance, continuance, bearing up, steadfastness, holding out, endurance.
St. Monica, who patiently prayed for St. Augustine's conversion - Pray for us!
Daily Bread - Dec 18th - PEACE
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - PEACE!
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)

Peace is the result of resting in a relationship with God. Peace is a tranquility, a state of rest, that comes from seeking after God, or, the opposite of chaos.
"Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God no matter what the conflict." -Anonymous
Daily Bread - Dec 17th - JOY
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - JOY!
"You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy" Psalm 30:11

Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)
Joy is more than happiness, which is temporal and conditional. Happiness is an emotion dependent on personal feelings. Joy is the unconditional state of mind that accompanies fellowship with God. It is characterized by great wellbeing.
Daily Bread - Dec 16th - LOVE
Fruits of the Holy Spirit - LOVE!

"Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Cor. 13:4-8a).
SACRED HEART OF JESUS, burning with LOVE for humanity - inflame our hearts with love for thee!

Trapped!
But these people are robbed and looted. They are all trapped in pits and hidden in prisons. They have become prey with no one to rescue them. They have become loot with no one to say, "Give it back." (Isaiah 42:22)

Lamb of God!

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." (Rev 4: 10-11)
Daily Bread - Dec 11th
In Christ Alone... NOTHING ELSE!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)
Daily Bread - Dec 10th

With Jesus!
One thing I ask of the LORD;
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD
and contemplate his temple. (Psalms 27:4)

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life’s refuge;
of whom should I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1)
Daily Bread - Dec 4th
The Wise Man.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” (Matt 7:24-27)

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. (Matt 7:21)

"My heart is moved with pity for the crowd..." (Matt 15:32)

Great crowds came to him,
having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute,
and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he cured them. (Matt 15:31)
The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking,
the deformed made whole,
the lame walking,
and the blind able to see,
and they glorified the God of Israel. (Matt 15:30)

Lamb upon the Throne!

“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
For I say to you,
many prophets and kings desired to see what you see,
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.” (Luke 10:23-24)
"The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A Spirit of counsel and of strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD, and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD." (Isaiah 11:1-5)
Daily Bread - Dec 1st

(First Sunday of the year in the Church's calendar)
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed." (Matthew 8:8)

to the house of the God of Jacob,
That he may instruct us in his ways,
and we may walk in his paths." (Isaiah 2:3)

Be Alert!
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man traveling abroad.
He leaves home and places his servants in charge,
each with his own work,
and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.

Watch, therefore;
you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,
whether in the evening, or at midnight,
or at cockcrow, or in the morning.
May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’” (Mark 13:33-37)

"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth."(Luke 21:34-35)

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21:36)

Daily Bread - Nov 28th

Then I saw thrones; those who sat on them were entrusted with judgment.
I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded
for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God,
and who had not worshiped the beast or its image
nor had accepted its mark on their foreheads or hands.
They came to life and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (Rev 20:4)

Give food to the hungry and clothes to people in need. If you are prosperous, give generously, and do it gladly! (Tobit 4:16)
